A COMPREHENSIVE BACKUP PLAN (Return)
Step 1: Creating Your Initial Backup
After the data backup subsystem is installed in your file server, the initial process consists of three steps:
- Our technician will make 'image copies' of user settings, operating systems, and directories, saving them to a removable hard drive.
- The technician will work with you to determine which data files are to be backed up, and will create scripts to ensure that those files are regularly written to a backup drive.
- Our technician will copy all data from these first two steps, and ship it to the off-site data center to "seed" the initial off-site data set.
Step 2: Managing Your On-Premises Backup
Each morning, a designated member of your staff will remove yesterday's 'HotSwap' backup drive and store it in the fireproof data safe.* Today's backup drive is removed from the data safe and inserted into the data backup drive bay in the file server. Your files are saved locally to ensure that all important data and operating system software is backed up and available for quick and easy retrieval or a bare-metal restore.
Step 3: Your Remote Backup
Gillware Data's remote backup software is designed to protect mission critical data from permanent loss by backing it up to secure offsite data centers using high-speed Internet connections. Your data is compressed and encrypted before transmission, and it remains encrypted while stored on the backup servers. After the initial backup of a file, only the changes made to that file are sent to Gillware's servers for backup.
